Dongryeol Ryu

Dongryeol Ryu, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at GIST (Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology), where he directs the Molecular and Integrative Biology (MIB) Lab. He received his Ph.D. from SKKU, South Korea, and completed postdoctoral training with Prof. Johan Auwerx at EPFL, Switzerland. His research investigates the molecular mechanisms of aging and metabolic disorders, focusing on skeletal muscle, liver, adipose tissue, and mitochondria. His lab develops therapeutics including microbiota-derived metabolites, myokine-based biologics, and next-generation NAD⁺ boosters. Dr. Ryu has authored over 140 papers (14,000+ citations) and has been recognized as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher and a Stanford Top 2% Scientist. He is also known as “Don” in international collaborations.
